The Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator (ASCA) opened a Request for Information (RFI) in August 2025, seeking innovative asymmetric solutions as part of ASCA’s Pitch Day 2025.
The RFI sought sovereign solutions from Australian industry and research organisations to the following challenge statements grouped into 2 themes:
- Theme 1: Power and Energy – seeks innovative solutions on energy sources for deployable and fixed sites.
- Theme 2: Acoustic Data Collection and Processing – seeks innovative solutions on sensors, edge processing and high-performance computing for data processing.
Milestones
In November 2025, 30 organisations were invited to pitch ideas at the ASCA Pitch Day 2025 event in Sydney, with 6 presenters awarded for their innovative ideas.
Background
As outlined in the Defence Industry Development Strategy, pitch days will allow industry and academia to present their ideas to Defence, allowing for insights into new capabilities and innovations.
The RFI opened on 11 August 2025, through AusTender – ASCA Pitch Day 2025, and closed on 15 September 2025. A virtual market briefing for industry and academia occurred on 28 August 2025.
