On Monday 17 February, Major General Hugh Meggitt was appointed as the new Head of the Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator (ASCA).
Along with this change, ASCA will be transitioning into the Vice Chief Defence Group, to ensure that investments are made in accordance with operational needs and will contribute to an integrated, focused force as outlined in the National Defence Strategy.
Major General Meggitt brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served in a variety of command and staff appointments in the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
In his new role, Major General Meggitt will be responsible for leading ASCA in its mission to accelerate the development and transition of asymmetric capabilities to the ADF through innovation in order to meet Defence priority needs.
This realignment will further enable ASCA to contribute to the ADF’s modernisation and enhance its ability to address future challenges.
